Public speaking coach and bestselling author Carmine Gallo has broken down hundreds of TED talks and interviewed the most popular TED presenters, as well as the top researchers in the fields of psychology, communications, and neuroscience to reveal the nine secrets of all successful TED presentations. Gallo's step-by-step method makes it possible for anyone to deliver a presentation that is engaging, persuasive, and memorable. Many people have a fear of public speaking or are insecure about their ability to give a TED-worthy presentation. Carmine Gallo's top 10 Wall Street Journal Bestseller Talk Like TED will give them the tools to communicate the ideas that matter most to them, the skill to win over hearts and minds, and the confidence to deliver the talk of their lives.

Stories and specific examples of actual TED talks litter the entire book.

I found it enjoyable. I was able to reference actual talks that I had seen or look them up later when I took a break.

In doing this, I found it easier to remember what the author was talking about.

He spoke a lot about finding your voice. Your own unique way of presenting your information.

Presenting on a topic that you are passionate about. When you are excited and engaged, it is easier for your audience to be as well.

Create a jaw dropping moment. Have a personal story or a picture or a statistic that will “wow” your audience.

Speak from the heart and have courage.

Anyone can be a speaker. You can be an amazing speaker with practice, courage, simple yet outstanding visual aides, a great story, passion, purpose, and some inspiration.

Recommended reading for anyone who presents. Whether you are in business, giving an actual TED talk, or a teacher, these skills should be required. (The world is tired of monotone, boring lectures.)

  • Great points about public speaking.
  • Easy to read/listen to.
  • Kept my attention with stories that I was familiar with or could watch on my TED app.

  • We already know a lot of the information. (Practice, Courage, Be Engaging, etc.)
